Notary Public in Auburn and Western Sydney
Documents signed in Australia for use overseas often need to be notarised before a foreign authority will accept them. Irfan Peerzada is a Notary Public and a member of the Society of Notaries of New South Wales.
Our Approach
Notarial Services for Documents Used Overseas
In New South Wales, every notary is an experienced lawyer. Notaries are appointed by the Supreme Court of NSW under the Public Notaries Act 1997 (NSW), and applicants must be lawyers of at least 5 years’ standing who complete the prescribed Notarial Practice Course.
We help you at each step needed for your document to be accepted overseas, from notarising it here to having it recognised in the country where it will be used:
- Notarisation: confirming your identity, witnessing your signature, certifying copies and preparing notarial certificates for documents used overseas.
- Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade (DFAT): obtaining an apostille or an authentication certificate for your notarised document, by appointment or by mail.
- Embassies and Consulates: legalisation by the relevant embassy or consulate where the receiving country is not a party to the Apostille Convention.
- Society of Notaries of New South Wales: you can search for a notary using the Society’s Notary Locator.
If you do not understand a document you have been asked to sign, we can also give you legal advice about it before it is notarised.
Please book an appointment before you come in, and if you can, send us a copy of the document and any instructions you have received from overseas. This helps us get it right at the first visit.
You can speak with Irfan in English, Hindi, Urdu or Gujarati.

Good to Know
Key Things to Know
Book an Appointment
Please do not come in without an appointment. A straightforward document usually takes a short appointment, but more complex matters take longer.
Bring Photo ID
Bring current identification, such as a valid passport and driver’s licence showing your current residential address.
Documents Not in English
If your document is not in English, a translation may be needed before it can be notarised. Please ask us before your appointment.
Apostille or Authentication
Check with the authority overseas whether you need an apostille or an authentication certificate. Documents that are not original Australian public documents must be notarised first.
This is general information only, not legal advice. Notarial fees depend on the documents involved. Please ask us about the likely fee when you book.
